Anthony Beeler Named Best Pool Instructor of America’s First 250 Years

I am deeply honored to have been selected as the recipient of the Best Pool Instructor Award by Best in Billiards, recognizing the leading instructor in American billiards history during the nation’s first 250 years.

To be considered alongside so many legendary players, instructors, manufacturers, broadcasters, writers, and industry leaders is incredibly humbling. The inaugural Best in Billiards awards celebrate individuals and organizations whose achievements have made a lasting impact on the game, and I am grateful that my work as a teacher, author, competitor, and instructional innovator has been recognized in this way.

My journey in billiards instruction has always been centered on one goal: helping players better understand the game and reach levels they may not have believed were possible.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with more than 31,000 students in all 50 states and 102 countriesthrough the Virtual Billiard Academy. I have taught beginners learning their first fundamentals, advanced players preparing for major competition, and instructors who have gone on to earn national recognition of their own.

I currently serve as a PBIA Master Instructor, an ACS Level 4 Master Instructor, and a member of the ACS National Instructors Board. I also helped co-author the ACS instructor manual, which is used to educate and prepare billiards instructors.

My career has included several previous instructional honors, including being named the 2017 Sneaky Pete Mafia Instructor of the Year and the Sneaky Pete Mafia Instructor of the Decade for 2010–2020. Pool & Billiard Magazine also recognized my academy as one of the Top 25 Places to Learn the Game.

Competitive experience has always played an important role in my teaching. I won the 2013 BCAPL National 9-Ball Championship, the 1999 Kentucky State 9-Ball Championship, six regional championships, and have recorded five Top-25 national finishes. Competing at a high level has allowed me to teach not only technique, but also strategy, pressure management, preparation, and the mental side of performance.

I have also worked to create new instructional tools and systems that make complex concepts easier to understand. These include the Vision Center Trainer, Cut Shot Angle Calculator, Stroke Trainer Mat, Pro-Alignment Mirror, Pro-Alignment Trainer, and Stance Trainer.

None of this would have been possible without the students who trusted me with their games, the instructors and players who shared their knowledge, and the companies that have supported my career.

I am especially thankful for the continued support of McDermott Cues, Diamond Billiard Products, Navigator Tips, and Magic Chalk.

I would also like to congratulate the other Best in Billiards honorees, including Nick Varner, Earl Strickland, Efren Reyes, John Brumback, Allison Fisher, William Incardona, Diamond Billiard Products, McDermott Pool Cues, Whitten Cases, and the many other deserving recipients.

This award is not something I view as the conclusion of my career. It is motivation to continue learning, creating, teaching, and helping preserve the knowledge and history of the game.

Thank you to Best in Billiards for this extraordinary honor, and thank you to every student, sponsor, colleague, friend, and supporter who has been part of the journey.
